AGM & Working with Unexplained Physical Symptoms with Dr Alastair Santhouse

March 20 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

This workshop follows our annual general meeting and is free for ACPNL members. If you are a member, there’s no need to book tickets – you will be sent joining details a couple of days in advance.

The workshop

This workshop will examine the mind-body connection, starting with a lecture exploring the ways in which our physical symptoms are closely correlated with our mental state. Both the human and financial costs of focussing on the physical at the expense of mental health are set out. There will then follow two more detailed case studies, where participants will split into smaller groups to discuss the cases and consider possible treatment strategies.

Our speaker

Dr Alastair Santhouse is an author and Consultant Neuropsychiatrist working at The Maudsley Hospital in London. He is a Fellow of both The Royal College of Physicians and The Royal College of Psychiatrists. He was Vice Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Faculty of Liaison Psychiatry between 2013 and 2017, and in 2016 served as President of the Psychiatry Section of the Royal Society of Medicine. His clinical work focuses on the intersection of physical and mental health.
